The Year Jubilee

 The Year Of Yovel

September 2015

Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the holiest time of the year its a time of introspection and reflection for a deeper, new or restored relationship with God. Rosh Hashanah starts a new year and ten days after we see the day of Yom Kippur that starts all the Jubilee years according to the Bible. Rosh Hashanah  builds the anticipation for thisYear Of Jubilee (Yovel).

Yovel (Jubilee) year, the 50th year after seven repetitions of the seven-year shemittah cycle is the biblical mandated to sanctify the 50th year (Leviticus 25:8). The Jubilee year requirements includes freeing slaves and returning property to its original owner. A Jubilee year always follows a shemittah year and the agricultural laws of shemittah are observed in a Jubilee year. There is also a connection between the Jubilee year and the arrival of the Messiah.

One Sabbath day in the synagogue of Nazareth Yesuah (Jesus) was invited to read a passage from the book of Isaiah 61 chapter.

Luke 4:16-21
He stood up to read, 17 and he was given the scroll of the prophet Yesha‘yahu. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written, 18 “The Spirit of Adonai is upon me; therefore he has anointed me to announce Good News to the poor; he has sent me to proclaim freedom for the imprisoned and renewed sight for the blind, to release those who have been crushed, 19 to proclaim a year of the favor of Adonai.” 20 After closing the scroll and returning it to the shammash, he sat down; and the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 He started to speak to them: “Today, as you heard it read, this passage of the Tanakh was fulfilled!”

When he sat down and began to explain the prophet’s word to the close-knit community. They were astonished to hear one of the world’s greatest revelations. Yeshuah announced that he was anointed by the Spirit of God The Messiah. He fulfilled the description which they had just heard. Yes! He was the one sent to bring good news to the poor, to set free the captives and the crushed, to restore sight to the blind. In short, he was sent by God to “proclaim a year of favour from the Lord.” A Jubilee Year. JESUS DECLARES HE IS THE JUBILEE.

Rosh Hashanah Tshlich Service we went to a body of water on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah and throw breadcrumbs into it, symbolically washing away all of our sins from the past year.
